On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the Knights of Columbus San Marco Assembly #2514 participated in a Welcome Home event at the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers, FL at 8:00 pm. The Sir Knights joined a huge crowd at the airport terminal in welcoming back the veterans who were returning from an Honor Flight to Washington, DC. San Marco Assembly #2514 Sir Knight Dick Garbys was among more than eighty (80) veterans who took part in the Honor Flight. Sir Knight Dick’s son served as a guardian on this Honor Flight. The trip included a tour of the war memorials in Washington, DC.
In the photo below, the San Marco Assembly #2514 Sir Knights in the welcome home group from left to right are SK Joe Granda, SK Steve Layng (Color Corp Commander), and SK Jack Drobnick. SK Dick’s daughter-in-law and grandchildren were also in the Welcome Home group. The Sir Knights who participated in this Honor Flight praised the organizers for a most enjoyable and very smooth trip and excursion.
